The Firefighters' Pension Scheme is one of the most generous public sector pensions in the UK. Employer contributions typically exceed 30% of pensionable pay, and the schemes provide index-linked income for life. Following the McCloud remedy, most active members are now building benefits in the FPS 2015 CARE scheme, while protected service in FPS 1992 or NFPS 2006 may still be reassessed for the 2015–2022 remedy period.
This calculator gives an indicative annual pension for any of the three schemes based on your service, pensionable pay and planned retirement age. It applies a simplified 5% per year actuarial reduction for retirement before your Normal Pension Age. For an official projection, ask your pension administrator for an Annual Benefit Statement.
